In the summer of 2010, the girls flew up to visit me and China, just before i was to return back to Singers for good. It was about time girls.
For 2 weeks, I showed them my favourite hang out places in Beijing, most of which receive frequent feature here.
Just behind my block, across the overhead bridge, is this little bakery which sells the freshest red date cake and you can smell it from across the bridge.
And of course it had to be their first breakfast treat in Beijing!
Fabz would have you be told never to be photographed near a China shop, with a big bag. You do not want to be stuck with a mob of angry chinese, brandishing broken plates in your face and screaming "pay up you cheat!!!".
The bunch of them wanted to visit me at the hospital I interned at. It kept them pretty amused for a while, me in the white coat acting all doctor like.
My favourite shots of the time when the Ngs and Chias were in Beijing. You will notice that the photos here today are a mix of different styles. Thats because they come from 3 different sources. The really sharp images are obviously not of my doing.
Its a profitable business, selling English titles in Beijing. This English book stall at the back corner of The Village first started off as a road side Ma La Tang stall. And look at how far it has come. It reminds me of the quaint spots in Paris selling old read books.
My pet project. A travelogue blog, for family and friends who aren’t there with me. If you can’t come with me, I will bring it to you.
I contemplated having this blog in Chinese seeing I will be away in China for 2 years. I started with 我, and I could continue no more. Haha I think I will have to save this silly idea for later when I am up to it.
My first quest: The motherland, fingers crossed and prayers said, Beijing here I come!
I hope to make discoveries in the land where there is much to discover! Good food, good sights, good buys and maybe a good boy? ;) Wish me luck!
Welcome to Tales and Spills.
