So on the very first night they were in town, they requested to be taken to the Bird nest. Here is a little tip when heading over to the olympic stadium. You should go well before 530pm to be able to enter the buildings (if you are lucky enough, on the right day, there would be performances put up for tourists), but stay long enough till the sun sets (right now during winter its around 5-ish?) to catch the light display of the bird nest and the water cube. A really pretty sight as you will see later.
Because time was not on our side, we were unable to enter the bird nest and water cube. We could only linger outside in the billowing winds and appreciate the structures standing about 500m away from them. And because it was Janice and Dan's first time in a really cold country (unlucky for them, that was the first day beijing's temperature plummeted overnight), we were out of the place under an hour. They waved the white flag even before visiting the olympic village (will have to go back there again probably when jas or jo is here)! Really a pity! But i think they were satisfied enough that they were able to catch the bird nest and water cube out of the tv set!

The Bird Nest is awe-inspiring, esp with the lights on. Wondering if a week stay is enough to take in all the sights in Beijing.
nope not enough at all! my friend was here for almost a week, and there is still so much that she hasnt seen!
