The Art Scene

After a while, we will all come to realise this is not easy. But it is the simple luxury of such that puts back the smile on your face. As you sit down after a crappy day and flip through the album remembering those that came and went.

The National Centre for the Perfoming Arts, 2 blocks down from Tian An Men Square. This is the latest addition to the growing art scene in Beijing. The iconic dome-shaped structure, aka The Egg, is a fusion of both modern elements and traditional chinese values. A lot of symbolism and theories behind the final design for this structure, for instance the dome shaped stucture and the man made lake running all round the egg. I will not go on to elaborate more, a little tired today. Shall save it for another time.

By Day
As Night Falls
the lights come out to play

It reminded me a little of the esplanade. The notable difference is here, the egg spots only one wing with a much taller ceiling. Because an entrance fee is charged (30 RMB) for each visit into the theater, its best to explore the interior when you are already there for a performance.

A walk inside

Below the Lake
There is not a lot inside that caught my eye. Of worthy mention though are the following paintings below.

The Asian Mona Lisa
As if it wasnt hard enough painting that one piece
Beijing Opera
Such a Sport :)
