Another wall

Back to the story, shortly after beiyi and co. left for singapore, i had another group of incoming visitors. The distant relatives from the philippines were here for a quick getaway (4 days). 10 of them and they formed their own tour group. They had their own tour guide (such a relief for me), and so finally i got to play the role of a tourist! It was so much fun having them around, its always nice to have family around regardless of how distant they are :)

And what was a visit to beijing without climbing the great wall! So i was back at it again. After lots of prior training, the pass at Juyong Guan (leading to the badaling) was kind of like a slow stroll along a beach. ok not. About 1/4 of the journey up, a cousin had to pull out. He is only like i think 2 years older than me?

See, although its less challenging than the one at commune, its way steeper. Gravitational pull was huge.

Civilized Steps

And once at the top, we were able to see clearly the snaking wall across the mountain tops. Simply incredible, i mean the vastness of this whole great wall project and the technology they used back in those days. It just leaves me at a lost for words.
