Hai Kou

The Parents are out of town (again), and its just us rascals left to rule the world.

With higher authority gone, the third in command took charge. My sister took care of my meals, bringing me to lunch at siglap and for dinner, she took to the kitchen, whipping us both a cozy dinner for 2. Cold soba noodles, unagi and fried chicken nuggets :)) And for dinner tomorrow, she is thinking of brewing me some pork rib soup :)) I dont know where all this maternal instinct is coming from, you tell me!

Now that i am satiated from dinner, lets get settled down.

Many seasons ago, dor and I, the most unlikely pair of travel companion set out on a long backpacking trip, before i was back for the spring break. Our whole trip took almost 2 weeks, and was broken down into many legs.

Our first leg, the island of Hainan. We spent the first few days at the capital, Haikou, which was totally unnecessary. It was raining everyday that we were there, such a bummer. That said, there is nothing exciting at Haikou and it doesnt help that our hostel is such a dump. I am usually not a whiner when it comes to traveling, this is just Haikou bringing out the worst in me.

City Walk

Food Street
Wet sick from the rain
Claypot Rice
Cafe that we only decided to walk into because of the rain
The Haunting
On the 2nd day, we found ourselves a little adventure. We took the bikes out for a ride, and it was a messy messy affair. I came back brown and beaten.

It was a treacherous journey with scary cars and muddy roads. We rode to the gate of the volcano park several km out of the city, but we never saw the volcano. Dang.

I just couldn't believe it. Your superb sister taking such good care of you. I can travel more often now and not worry if you'll be famished. It's a good start. think she is ready to have her own family. hahaha...
