The Tenth Crossing

Another suburbia adventure worth the ride out from town, would be the Shidu Scenic Area (tenth crossing) found at the fangshan county. Only about 2 hours ride away from beijing city center, Shidu has often be touted as the Guilin of the north due to the characteristic layered rock cliffs that can be found in both places. Its a place i definitely recommend for the young and adventurous! There is so much climbing and trekking, and halfway through, my dad's knee started acting up. Poor him, not a young man anymore!

We stayed overnight at this lovely courtyard house opened by a Mr. Wang. Mr. wang is a jovial man, so full of life and it shows - from the paintings and photos he shared and the stories he told.

Our Stay

Gu Shan Zhai
is one of the many attractions in Shidu. High energy needed! Expect lots of slopes, hiking and snapping!

Gu Shan Zhai

Notice how tense my right arm is! I swear, its one of the scariest 100m walk i have taken to date. The bridge sways and creaks, scary.

The Long Walk

This is to marvel. The teeniest of slits between 2 cliffs, hence so aptly named "a thin line to heaven" (pardon the bad translation).

Rocking in my so cool shoes
Then again, maybe i shouldnt be asking to be pardoned for my translation

Mini Guilin
After rain, ewww creepy crawlies always appear for a little breather.
