The Age of the Flintstones

Carved entirely out of rocks, Gu Ya Ju is another reason why you should pay a visit to the yanqing county. So little is known about this flintstone-like of a dwelling place, but its the little mysteries that intrigue me so! As i began the hike into the depths of the hills, my thoughts wandered to the ancient clan that used to live here. What exactly drove them so far out to seek refuge behind the camouflage of the trees and the hills?

Gu ya ju remains one of the biggest mysteries in chinese architecture history with no records of any sorts anywhere. Amazing huh, the ancient lost civilization.

Going knock knocking
Its very much like blocks of apartments with penthouse units to boot! From a distance, the block kind of reminded me of cheese.

Cheddar Cheese!

I factored in the technology that was available in the past, and considered how vast the project was, and i was left in awe. How do you chisel away huge rectangular block of rocks out of a cliff?

It almost felt like the cliff was breathing through all the holes! It was so alive!

Hey, this place is interesting. Must go back to beijing and visit it! Looks like caves for the early cavemen.
