Hou Hai

The Clarke Quay of Beijing with scores of great chill out places lining the lake. I had an awesome time checking out this new place on my list with qy. I have not spoken to her in a while, so it was nice spending a day out together :)

We came across several cute little cafes and the one below was just one of the nicer few we saw. Reminds me a little of a small charming country cafe!

Other than cafes and bars, there are several other novel shops in the area that sell very interesting pieces. It takes half a day going through all the shops at Hou Hai.

After all that walk across bridges and canals, with small boats bobbing in and out of sight, i thought for a while i was in oriental venice!

Down the Lake in a little boat
We walked until our feet were sore and stomach was empty. And then we saw people up on a rooftop soaking in the springtime sunlight whilst having a bite or two. And we decided to join the crowd!

Rooftop diningFrom up and above
And because we were not satisfied from lunch, we went on hunting for more food! Cakes and such at Desserts in Cafe. Well, the cakes were not exactly up to mark but kudos to them for having such a sweet eye in putting the cafe together with such soft hues of pink and purple!

Hou Hai looks very interesting with its beautiful waterway. It's a must see place for me when I visit soon. But summer scene may be different. Can't imagine dining in the hot afternoon sun in the open air rooftop.
