The L hotel

L for luxurious, for luscious, mainly because i cant remember the name of the hotel, only that it begins with "L". This was an unplanned trip. We were walking along wang fu jing (yes, yet again) when we ran into this towering facade. It was hard not to notice it coz it stood out even from a mile away. We wandered in hoping to catch a glimpse of anyone important that might be staying in the L hotel. Instead, we were greeted at the door by a team of very amiable hotel staff. They were all decked out in blue coats and tall hats, like those worn by the english gentlemen and ladies in waiting.

Walking off the beijing streets into the L hotel, we girls were swept off our feet into a different place. We made a quick round in the lobby area and were able to gather a few not so relevant information. The owner is a hongkie who was invited to do a leg in the torch relay for the olympics. And after all that, we didnt manage to catch the room rates.

From the lavish furnishings to the sparkling marble floors, we girls also soon realised that we do not belong in such a place. We couldnt wait to get out of there and back to our comfort zone!

Note: for travelers with absolutely no budget!
