The Peking Duck Restaurant

When in Beijing, you GOT to absolutely try their "kao ya". But pls be very careful that you go to the right restaurant for it, lest you get disappointed. When beiyi was still here, she made a few recommendations like "Da Dong", "made in China" (hope i got it right) and the one we are more familiar with "Quan Ju De". There is one down the road from my apartment. So as a welcome dinner celebration to our new home, we girls treated ourselves to a date with their famous duck.

Standing at the door to our room (VIP treatment for us with a private room to ourselves), the waiter was slicing up the duck (served in many different ways. i.e. the skin alone; the meat, skin and a wrap; duck bone soup). I swear I could hear the tearing of the duck's skin as the waiter made each cut. Like crisp paper. And at that moment, the dam in my mouth was let loose.

This is about the only time i can forgive the chinese for their very oily version of any cooked meal. After all, what is kao ya without the gushing oil as you make your first bite into the roasted skin. yummmmmmmilicious. But i bet da dong or made in china's roasted duck taste just as good, if not better. Am already saving my tummy for the next round!

Our table was so huge, we were one arm length away from one another

The sacrificial cut
