日坛公园

It is near the end of summer and the start of autumn. The evenings turn cold while the flowers are still in full bloom. Such a perfect weather to be taking a stroll in the park. I think that explains the number of people we see taking leisurely walks in this particular park during the evenings.

Flowers in full bloom

Lotus Lake
Bar by the Lake
Just like those in the Chinese "gu zhuang xi"
Actually, our main purpose of visiting the park is to have dinner at "Xiao Wang Fu". "Xiao Wang Fu" is a chinese restaurant located in a secluded corner of the park. The food (the typical oily and salty fare) served there was average, but the ambiance was definitely a plus point for "Xiao Wang Fu".

We (or rather I) forgot that seafood is a rare commodity in Beijing, and we ordered a fish dish. When the bill came back, we got a shock of our life. The fish cost S$40! Yes, beiyi couldn't stop reminding me that it was I who ordered the fish. I am not going to eat seafood in Beijing ever again.

The prized fish

"Xiao Wang Fu", a favourite amongst the tourists
